Happy Mother's Day

To all mums –

First time mums, experienced mums, ninja mums, mums-to-be, surrogate mums, adoptive mums, aunts, godmothers, grandmothers, breast feeding mums, bottle feeding mums, sleep deprived mums, barely-holding-shit-together mums, yet-to-be mums, daddy mummies . . .

Take time today to acknowledge the job that you are doing. It can feel like such a thankless role at times, especially when you’re exhausted, overwhelmed and doing your best to keep your head above water every day.

You are doing a terrific job. Keep going.

Take time today to enjoy a hot cup of tea (without reheating it). So much of what we do now involves putting others before ourselves. We do it subconsciously and gladly but every now and then we must take 5 minutes for ourselves, if only to stay a little bit sane!

You are doing a terrific job. Keep going.

Take time today to breathe. You probably spend most of your day rushing around or trying to keep to the all important routine. But don’t forget to pause and breathe.

You are doing a terrific job. Keep going.

Take time today to say yes to some help. Under the guise of stress and anxiety we can try to do everything ourselves. It might not be done exactly how we’d like it, but it’s done and that’s really all that matters. Say ‘yes’ to offered help today, or ask for it if you need it.

You are doing a terrific job. Keep going.

Take time today to lavish love, respect and gratitude to the strong women in your life. Since becoming mums ourselves we have a new found admiration for our mums and while it feels like we are in the amateur club still learning, we are so blessed to have fantastic mums to teach us. With such roles models we hope to one day be like them.

You are doing a terrific job. Keep going.

Most of all, take some time today to remember who you are. Being a mum is a huge part of your life but there is also YOU in there too. Take some time today to remember that. Put on your favourite song, read your favourite (non-baby related) book, watch a movie, paint your nails . . . what ever it is that reminds you of who YOU are.

You are doing a terrific job. Keep going.

We want to wish every single one of you a wonderful Mother's Day. You really are a terrific mum.
